Volunteer Opportunity That Helps Retirees and Families

How would you like to help low – to moderate-income families and seniors file their taxes through the IRS’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance or Tax Counseling for the Elderly programs, better known as VITA and TCE?

If so, we’d like to hear from you because we need more volunteers like you who have a desire to make a difference.

No previous experience required. Last year more than 88,000 volunteers helped prepare more than three million free tax returns at thousands of sites nationwide. As a volunteer, you’ll learn how to prepare individual tax returns with the help of a mentor and at the same time, you’ll help taxpayers receive the tax credits and deductions they are entitled to. In fact, most people who visit our VITA and TCE sites are due refunds, which could provide them with much needed assistance.

The program kicks off in January and is finished by April 15th. You can volunteer as little or as much as you desire.

If you’d like to volunteer, email Raymond Huff at wi.spec.bhampartners@irs.gov. Make sure to provide information on which city you would like to volunteer. If you need additional information you can call Raymond at 251-214-5293.

We do hope to hear from you. And thank you for your interest in becoming a VITA or TCE volunteer.
